The simple version of the agreement
Terms of Service
These Terms of Service explain the rules for using MyBibliotheca, the personal reading tracker operated by MyBibliotheca (“MyBibliotheca,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms.
1. The service
MyBibliotheca helps you organize books, track reading progress, and keep personal notes about your reading. The hosted service is currently in beta. Features may change as we improve it, and occasional interruptions are possible while we build and maintain the service.
2. Beta pricing
There is no charge to use MyBibliotheca during the beta. After the beta, each account will include up to 500 books free forever. We may introduce optional paid plans for larger libraries or additional features. If we do, we will explain the plans and pricing before charging you. We will not charge you without your consent.
3. Your account
You are responsible for providing accurate account information, keeping your login details secure, and activity that occurs through your account. You must be at least 13 years old to use the service. Tell us promptly if you believe someone has accessed your account without permission.
4. Your library and content
You keep ownership of the books, ratings, notes, reading history, and other material you add to MyBibliotheca (“Your Content”). You give us permission to host, store, process, and display Your Content only as needed to operate, secure, and improve the service for you.
You are responsible for having the right to upload or import anything you add. Please do not upload content that is unlawful, infringes someone else’s rights, or contains sensitive information that the service does not need.
5. Imports and connected services
Import features may use files or data from services such as Goodreads or StoryGraph. Those services have their own terms and privacy practices. You are responsible for using exports and imports in accordance with the permissions and rules that apply to you. We do not guarantee that an import will include every field or preserve every detail exactly.
6. Acceptable use
You may not use MyBibliotheca to break the law, attack or probe the service, interfere with another person’s account, distribute malware, send spam, or attempt to bypass usage limits or security controls.
7. Open source
MyBibliotheca’s source code is open source. The hosted service is provided under these terms, while the source code itself is governed by the open-source license included with the project. Using the hosted service does not require you to install, operate, or self-host anything.
8. Changes and ending use
You can stop using MyBibliotheca at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that violate these terms, create a security risk, or threaten the service or other users. We may change or discontinue parts of the beta, but we will make reasonable efforts to communicate material changes.
9. Disclaimers
MyBibliotheca is provided on an “as available” basis during beta. To the extent permitted by law, we make no warranties that the service will always be available, error-free, or preserve every piece of data indefinitely. You should keep a copy of anything especially important to you.
10. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, MyBibliotheca will not be responsible for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these terms limits rights or remedies that cannot legally be limited.
